Whether it's on easy footpaths that tempt you to extended walks; or on themed trails through wild landscapes along roaring mountain streams, reflecting the harsh life in the Alps; and, last but not least, to steep snow-covered summits: hiking in East Tyrol is relaxation for body, mind and soul.
Example tours:
Since 1935 the Großglockner High Alpine Road has been an unforgettable experience for around 50 million visitors. This most famous of Alpine roads ends at the splendid Hohe Tauern National Park: in front Austria's highest mountain and largest glacier, Großglockner (3.798 m) and the Pasterze.
On the way there, experience a 4,000-km journey to the Arctic. On the 1,500-metre climb to Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe you pass through all vegetation zones - from grain fields to perennial ice.
Along the Glockner Road, numerous information boards, six information trails and two information centres combine to create a state-of-the-art visual impression of nature. For example, you can find out where to stop if you wish to enjoy the high-Alpine experience to the full.
The Auronzohütte (2,320 m) is the starting point for a hike to the Drei-Zinnen-Hütte. A scenic highlight is the view of the north face of the peaks.
The 'Land der Drei Zinnen', with its deep valleys and extensive plateaus, offers magnificent panoramas and fantastic opportunities for hiking - from 1,130 up to 3,000 metres. There are heaps of rewarding destinations; from idyllic Alpine lakes such as Pragser Wildsee, to the famous summits of the Sexten Dolomites.
Two-hundred 3,000-metre peaks, extensive glacial fields, deep blue Alpine lakes and imposing waterfalls.
The perfect Alpine landscape that you can experience in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Enter the Hohe Tauern National Park and take a deep breath. Find lasting relaxation with numerous opportunities for hiking and themed trails that are hard to find anywhere else.
You can borrow e-bikes for a fee! - measure yourself against nature, reach your physical limits, enjoy terrific descents - you can experience all this with us in Innervillgraten:
We will let you know about the best mountain huts, hidden trails and the nicest cycle tours in our region. It's not just professional bikers that find ideal terrain here; all other cyclists have long since discovered the varied choice of routes around Villgraten.
Many great summits can be more easily reached than on foot - with the help of a mountain bike or eBike (from the door). This often saves a long walk and, after reaching the summit, there's the promise of a wonderful descent.
The Dolomites are a paradise for climbers, offering some of the best and most well-known via ferrata in the Alps. Rope yourself to the rocks, pull yourself up and enjoy the unique panoramic views.
Rafting is an adventure sport combining nature, physical activity and team work. There's hardly another sport that allows you to experience the power of unrestrained nature so intensively. The Drau provides an ideal stretch for making yourself familiar with these aspects. Crystal clear water and an impressive river landscape are characteristic of this popular tour.
Surrounded by the imposing mountain landscape, fitness orientated holidaymakers can let off steam on different routes.
The running and Nordic walking routes have been designed for sport, but also go through particularly peaceful and unspoilt countryside around Innervillgraten.
